WHAT THE JACKDAW SAW

An inclusive picture book about friendship, sign language and deaf awareness, created by Julia Donaldson, author of The Gruffalo, with a group of deaf children.

The jackdaw wants all his animal friends to come to his party, but when he calls out his invitation they just touch their heads. Why won't they answer? And what do their actions mean?

Featuring a funny rhyming story and Nick Sharratt's bright and bold illustrations, What the Jackdaw Saw is a fun and accessible way for young children to learn about difference, empathy and sign language.

Inside you’ll find a page of illustrated British Sign Language signs to learn and a QR code – scan to listen to a brilliant audio reading by Justin Fletcher, complete with amazing sound effects, and find a link to a video of the story in British Sign Language.
